01First Encounters in Masks
Darina was used to the way her slender figure and reserved manner drew attention at society parties. This evening, in a playful hat with feathers, she felt especially attractive. Martin, an elegant stranger in a mask, immediately piqued her interest. He asked her to dance, and their bodies sized each other up, moving in time with the music. “You dance magnificently, madam,” he said, leaning toward her ear. Darina only answered with a mysterious smile, feeling her skin break out in goosebumps from his warm breath.
Time seemed to drag, and through the narrow slits in his mask, Martin kept watching Darina. Her grace, intelligent eyes, and manner of speaking set her apart from the crowd. He came over to her when she set aside her mask and offered her a fresh glass of wine. “I see you don’t like idle talk,” he said, looking at her from under his mask. Darina raised the glass and said, “Sometimes words are unnecessary.” Their gazes met, and both felt something unusual. “Shall we find a more private place?” Martin whispered, offering his arm. Darina nodded, and they headed for one of the castle’s secluded galleries.
02Secret Flirting in the Shadows
The shadows of the tall statues embraced them as they entered the gallery. Martin, easily brushing aside every obstacle, led Darina to one of the hidden alcoves. “No one will disturb us here,” he said, turning to face her. Darina felt her heart racing and her breath growing heavier. Martin reached out to move her mask, but Darina stopped him: “Don’t be so hasty, my friend. Let’s enjoy the mystery a little longer.” She took his hand and ran her fingers over his wrist. Martin closed his eyes and took a deep breath. “You’re right, but I want to see your eyes,” he murmured, moving closer to her lips, and their kiss turned out to be unexpectedly scorching.
When they finally removed their masks, their faces showed only feigned surprise, but their eyes betrayed the understanding that everything was still ahead. Darina gently pulled Martin by the hand, and they entered a large room where tall windows offered a view of the park. Martin pressed Darina to him and whispered, “I feel you know something about me that you shouldn’t know.” Darina giggled: “We’re both here to play the masquerade game, dear Martin. Let’s continue our game.” She offered him a glass of champagne, and they clinked glasses with sarcasm. “To riddles and lies,” she said, looking straight into his eyes. Martin took a sip and smiled: “To the unmasking.”
03Hot Embraces in the Night
Darina stepped closer, and her fingers played over Martin’s skin. She began unbuttoning his shirt, and he didn’t stop her. When his torso was bared, she pressed against him, feeling his heart beat in rhythm with her own. Martin shed his costume and ran his hand down her back, tracing every curve. “You look wonderful,” he whispered, and their lips met again. Darina pulled her dress over her head, and her body coiled around him like a snake. Their passion heated the room, and even the candles on the walls seemed to blaze brighter.
Martin carried Darina over to the window, where the moonlight bathed her body. He pressed her against the glass and began kissing her neck, moving down to her breasts. Darina arched her back, letting him caress her. Martin felt his desire surge, and he couldn’t wait to enter her. Darina ran her hand along his back and said through gritted teeth, “I want you, Martin. Here and now.” He smiled and dropped to his knees, his fingers sliding inside her. Darina gasped and helped him slip off her panties. When Martin stood up, she looked him straight in the eye: “Hold still, darling, let me taste you.” She laid him on the bed and, wrapping her lips around him, began moving her head up and down. Martin groaned, feeling his body respond to her every touch.
04Unmasking
When Darina and Martin woke up, they saw that morning had already taken hold. Darina’s first move was to look out the window, where light streamed across the castle, and her heart clenched. Martin, noticing her expression, came up behind her and wrapped his arms around her, brushing her hair off her neck. “What’s wrong?” he whispered, feeling her tremble. Darina turned and looked him straight in the eyes. “Martin, your beloved boss announced his bankruptcy last night. I saw it in the archive documents you brought back from the expedition.” She sighed, feeling her news hit him hard. Martin gasped and clutched his head. “That’s all I was thinking about last night. I was afraid to tell you, but you already knew.”
He sat on the edge of the bed and began to cry quietly, which surprised Darina. She came over and sat down beside him. “Martin, I know you’re not to blame. You did everything you could.” She held him and felt him shrink in her embrace. Suddenly Martin looked up at her, his eyes full of gratitude. “Thank you for being here. You made my night unforgettable.” Darina smiled and kissed his forehead. “We all go through trials, dear. But we’ll remember this ball no matter what.” They both knew their paths would part, but that night they were together, and it was beautiful.
